In 2011, Pedrinho watched from the stands as Vasco lifted their first Copa do Brasil at Couto Pereira, and he now presides over the club, per Globo.com.
Alecsandro and Éder Luís scored in a 3-2 defeat to Coritiba on the night, but a 1-0 win in São Januário and the away goals rule secured the trophy.
Inactive but not yet retired at the time, he later joined Olaria for the 2012 Carioca and said farewell in January 2013 for Vasco against Ajax at São Januário.
After moving into punditry, he joined TV Globo in 2019, leaving in 2023 to run for president. Backed by Sempre Vasco, he won with 3,372 votes that November and took office two months later.
He said the club’s condition drove his bid, accepted doubts over quitting the country’s biggest broadcaster after four best pundit awards, and insisted the project serves Vasco, not personal aims.
He also said the institution had been diminished and called for progress in sporting performance, structure, debt and social responsibility.
In May 2024 his administration won a Rio court injunction suspending 777 Partners’ corporate effects, returning control to the parent club. Since then results have ranged from a middling 2024 league to a Copa do Brasil semi-final exit and runs of wins then defeats.
Under Fernando Diniz, his pick as coach, Vasco eliminated Botafogo and Fluminense on penalties in earlier rounds and need a simple win over Corinthians at the Maracanã on Sunday to clinch the bicampeonato.
