From hat-trick heroics to injury woes: How Arsenal summer sales have fared at their new clubs

Some former Gunners have hit the ground running at their new clubs, while others are yet to feature...

The excitement of a transfer window is understandably often centred on incomings, but it was also a significant summer for sales at Arsenal too.

In Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, the Gunners let players responsible for 25 goals last season leave.

Add in Christian Norgaard and that was 150 appearances made by the quartet in what was an incredibly successful season.

Here is how those players sold by Arsenal in the summer have fared so far...

It has been a fairly slow start to life in Turkey for Leandro Trossard.

The Belgian joined Besiktas over the summer for a fee of just over £15million, signing a three-year contract.

Trossard scored his first goal for the club against Erzurumspor FK, sliding in to finish from about eight yards out.

He has also registered one assist for Besiktas in his seven appearances, but has missed the last two matches with a heel injury.

Trossard has joined up with the Belgium squad for the international break but he was not fit to take part in training on Monday.

Gabriel Martinelli

A £60m move to Al-Hilal comfortably made Gabriel Martinelli the biggest sale Arsenal have ever made.

In seven years with the Gunners, Martinelli registered one hat-trick. That came against Portsmouth in the FA Cup last season.

The Brazilian has already matched that tally in Saudi Arabia, taking home the match ball from a 6-0 win over Al-Tawooun despite only playing 54 minutes.

The pick of the bunch was his second, chopping inside to sit down a defender and then finishing confidently with his left foot.

Interestingly, Martinelli has been playing on the right wing for Al-Hilal, an unusual position for him. Crysencio Summerville has been preferred on the left.

He was not called up by Brazil for upcoming friendlies against Australia and India.

Just like Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus has been in the goals since leaving Arsenal.

Jesus signed for Barcelona for around £12.8m and has quickly settled into the new environment.

The 29-year-old is set to start a match for Hansi Flick's side, but he has scored twice off the bench.

The first of those came against Feyenoord in the Champions League, flicking in a header from a Lamine Yamal cross.

Jesus then curled a brilliant finish into the top corner in a 7-2 win over Racing Santander.

It was a strange start to life on loan at Borussia Dortmund for Ethan Nwaneri.

He came on inside the opening half an hour for both of his first two appearances, against Hoffenheim and Villarreal.

In that Champions League match against Villarreal, Nwaneri was then withdrawn in the final ten minutes, but Niko Kovac revealed that was only a fitness decision.

The Dortmund boss said: “He gave everything. If he had started the game, he probably would have come off around the 60th minute.”

Nwaneri has started the last two matches and has now joined up with the England Under-21s side.

He is in line to return to Arsenal to face his former club on November 24, when Dortmund take on Mikel Arteta's side in the Champions League.

Fabio Vieira

Hamburg eventually secured Fabio Vieira on a permanent deal, after he impressed on loan at the club last season.

It has been a struggle so far for the German side. Vieira's first two appearances of the campaign both came off the bench in 5-0 defeats.

The mood was lifted just before the international break when Vieira played the full 90 minutes and Hamburg picked up their first win of the season, beating Cologne.
