Gabriel Martinelli ‘dreams of’ Corinthians return, says agent | OneFootball

Gabriel Martinelli, a Corinthians academy graduate, still hopes to wear the shirt again, his agent Marcos Casseb has said.

"I think, a little further down the line, yes, to return to Brazilian football. He has four years left in Saudi Arabia, until he is 29, and he dreams of coming back to play for Corinthians. He wants to return one day," he told Itatiaia.

The 25-year-old left Arsenal for Al-Hilal, signing a deal through 2030.

Corinthians are due about R$ 2 million via FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, as he was registered there aged 12 and 13. The system rewards training from 12 to 23, with 0.25% per season up to 15, rising to 0.5% from 16.

He began at Corinthians aged six in futsal, moved to the pitch at 10, then left in 2015 when his family relocated to Itu. Ituano, where he emerged, are set to receive about R$ 49 million.

In 2019 he joined Arsenal for R$ 30 million. He made 278 appearances with 62 goals and 34 assists, helping end a 22-year Premier League drought last season. He also played at the last two World Cups for Brazil.

For Al-Hilal he has four appearances and three goals, all in the 6-0 win over Al-Taawoun in the Saudi league.
