Lazio are reportedly courting at least five defenders as defensive reinforcement will be needed in the summer.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Biancocelesti could part ways with Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli at the end of the season. The Spaniard has attracted the interest of several top European suitors, including Real Madrid, while the experienced Italian is no longer happy at the club, especially due to Claudio Lotito’s broken promise.
On the contrary, the Roman newspaper expects Samuel Gigot, Patric and Oliver Provstgaard to remain at Formello, but none of them has been able to carve himself a regular starting role in Marco Baroni’s lineup this season.
Hence, Lazio will be looking to add one or more profiles to their defensive ranks, and the source reveals five players the club is keeping an eye on, beginning with Paris Saint-Germain outcast, Milan Skriniar. The 30-year-old Slovakian is currently on loan at Fenerbahce, but the Ligue 1 champions will be looking to offload him for good next summer, and a return to Serie A is on the cards.
The second name on the shortlist is Wout Faes who will be eager to leave Leicester City following their relegation. The 27-year-old Belgian has been representing the Foxes since 2022, and he’s widely expected to pursue greener pastures this summer.
The source also mentions three younger profiles: Velez Sarsfield’s Valentin Gomez (21), Valencia’s Cristhian Mosquera (20) and FC Lugano’s Albian Hajdari, who became the latest player to be linked with a move to Lazio.
