From Tunisia and Algeria: Russia national team snatches two promising gems
The race for dual- and triple-nationality talents has ignited in world football in recent years.
African national teams have become accustomed to securing some of the most promising names graduating from European youth academies, capitalizing on a rich reservoir of talent across the continent.
But the Russian Football Union has flipped the script, snapping up two rising stars from North Africa.
The duo of Sultan Jamazi, the Esperance de Tunis prodigy, and Nikita Troshin, a bright talent from USM Alger, received call-ups from the Russian Football Union to participate in a preparatory camp with Russia’s under-15 national team.
This camp will be hosted in Krasnodar from March 6 to 16.
Jamazi has both Tunisian and Russian heritage, making him eligible to represent either nation internationally. Troshin, meanwhile, boasts Algerian and Russian roots, giving him the same dual eligibility.
The Russia U-15 team is aiming to harness all its talents from Europe, Africa, and Asia to build a formidable squad for the future.
It is expected that both the Tunisian and Algerian Football Federations will act on this file to ensure they can benefit from these two young stars in the near future.
All indications suggest that both players will remain firmly on the radar of the North African national teams, who are keen to prevent Russia from luring them away.
Tunisia and Algeria have both enjoyed great success in recruiting Europe-born players over the past years, but for the first time, they now find themselves in a reverse situation—facing competition from a European side seeking to secure talents playing in their own countries..
