Fulham fans hoping to see their team end a run of three Premier League defeats in a row.

Fair to say though that many of them aren’t too confident…

Their club have announced that 1,700 Fulham fans will be inside St James’ Park, just over half the maximum 3,200 away fans allocation.

Amongst the comments are some very strange claims, with more than one of the Fulham fans who are commenting, reminding everyone about how they defeated Newcastle United in the League Cup last season.

Funny that, as I seem to remember NUFC doing pretty well in that competition last season, I remember we played in London in the League Cup back on 16 March 2025, but I don’t think it was Fulham AND Newcastle United didn’t lose!

Fulham fans comment via their Friends of Fulham message board:

‘Newcastle had a good result in the week vs Benfica so will be full of confidence.

Can’t see us getting anything unfortunately. Geordies to win 2-0.

Makes the Wolves game a week after a huge one for us.’

‘So we have lost before we have even stepped on the pitch.

‘Nothing like a bit of confidence in your team.’

‘I’d love to be proved wrong of course! Just being realistic.’

‘Could really do with a point or three here, won’t be easy.’

‘Not the way we’ve been playing. Nor with the injuries we’re dealing with.

A result would be Fulhamish but I’m struggling to see how it happens.’

‘Can’t see it happening to be honest, I would think we are looking at a right slapping up there. Hopefully after that we regroup, make the changes we need and go for 3 wins from Wolves, Everton and Sunderland.’

‘Doom mongering is for losers and the faint hearted.

It is one thing being realistic and another thing looking for excuses and blaming bad luck, and feeling sorry for ourselves.

So we go back to basics and get the little things right from throw ons to preventing opponents taking a quick free kick.

Good habits, make ourselves hard to score against, which in turn makes us hard to beat.

Play to our strengths not spend too much time worrying about opponents, make them worry about us.

Play to our tempo and stop passing the ball endlessly across our own goal mouth until we give it away. We are not Barcelona.

Go to Newcastle and win ugly, win pretty, win the toss, whatever it takes, if necessary make them hate us.

To do that as I have often stated, we have to have winners, fighters, leaders, characters and warriors and talk a good game.

A lot of Fulham supporters will travel to Newcastle and pay good money, and they deserve to witness a good performance.

I expect nothing less than a 100% commitment.’

‘Did we not beat Newcastle twice last season at their ground!

My view is a draw is a likely possibility as neither side has a real cutting edge currently, but both are well organised defensively.’

‘Think it will be a 1-0 either way, to us hopefully.

Result wise they are no different to us ,we just need to be 100% with effort and desire wise and can get the win.’

‘Beat them twice last season, including the League Cup.’

‘Newcastle back to form beating Benfica 3-0 tonight.

Just in time to play good old Fulham.’

‘Hopefully MS and the lads have been training on corner defense setups. If they haven’t, then methinks we’re doomed.

We’ve seen a decided lack of defending corners since first game this season. Better have someone on Burn like a second skin on corners.

I still think we can get something out of this game. If we play as we did v Arsenal (save the allowed goal on a corner) then I will be hopeful…’

‘We have carried on with our end of season collapse form, we were going for a Europe spot then the decline set in after Palace mugged us.

cannot see any way out of this, we are so predictable down the left then nothing…

Hope I’m wrong…’

‘After watching bits of their game last night- Burn and Woltemade caused havoc for Benfica in the box as they got the ball into them from crosses/throws/corners a lot. On that basis, I’d say Diop will have to play to try and counter that.’

‘If Castagne plays we are in big trouble.Last season Gordon gave him a torrid time.

There goal last sesaon came from Castagne getting done by Gordon on the half way line.’

‘Time to unleash Adama. Burn will have his hands full.Gordon maybe forced to help out.

Plenty of space at SJP.’

‘Waltemade is likely to win most balls or flick ons in the air up front so important we win the loose ball. If Lukic fit then likely to come back in as they are strong with Guimares & Tonali in midfield. Was always a decent ground for us in getting a result but tend to think we have a mountain to climb here tomorrow and a good chance we go pointless throughout October which to be fair did have a look about it especially after the way we folded at Villa.
