Fulham working on €25m deal for AC Milan forward Samuel Chukwueze | OneFootball

Fulham are ramping up efforts to reinforce their squad before the transfer window closes and are pushing hard to sign AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the Cottagers are working on a deal that could cost up to €25 million (£21.5m) for the Nigerian winger.

That figure is expected to include both fixed payments and performance-related add-ons.

Fulham are one of only a few Premier League clubs to have hardly moved a muscle this summer.

The only addition to Marco Silva’s squad has been 34-year-old goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, who joined from Montpellier for £500,000.

He is expected to provide cover for first-choice shot stopper Bernd Leno, but Silva is expecting more reinforcements before the transfer window closes.

Silva, who was linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job before Thomas Frank took over, has already voiced his frustration at the club’s lackadaisical attitude in the transfer market.

However, things seem to be picking up in the remaining few days.

Chukwueze joined Milan from Villarreal two years ago. He came in with high expectations, but he has hardly been the transformative addition they had hoped for.

He has featured 70 times for Milan over the past two years, bagging just eight goals and six assists.

The winger was left out of Milan’s Coppa Italia win against Bari and only played 25 minutes in the shock 2-1 defeat against Cremonese on Serie A opening day.

Chukwueze still has three years left on his contract at the San Siro, but Milan are open to cutting their losses this summer, and Fulham are hoping to pounce.

Fulham are desperate to bolster their attacking options this summer and view Chukwueze as an ideal addition to the squad.
