Former England manager Steve McClaren has entered the race to become the head coach of the Stallions, Burkina Faso's national football team.

Steve McClaren has officially applied to lead Burkina Faso, according to CS Médias. The same sources indicate that the 64-year-old English coach is intrigued by the potential of the current Stallions generation.

With a wealth of experience, Steve McClaren is best known for his years as assistant to the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. He has also managed the England national team, Middlesbrough, and Dutch side FC Twente.

In November 2025, the English coach stepped down as Jamaica's head coach following the team's failure to secure a direct spot at the 2026 World Cup.

If selected in Burkina Faso, Steve McClaren would embark on his first ever national team challenge on African soil.
