Former Corinthians striker Gabi Nunes, now at Aston Villa, visited the Brabas on Friday morning in London ahead of Sunday’s final. She met the squad at Barnet FC’s training base and watched her former team-mates prepare.

The starters began with gym work, then moved into tactical drills on the pitch. She has not played since August, a friendly against PSG. According to Lance, she required lower-back surgery to correct a herniated disc. She returned to training in late January 2026.

Nunes represented Corinthians from 2016 to 2021 before moving to Spain with Madri CFF then Levante, joining Aston Villa in 2024.

During her Corinthians spell she suffered three ACL injuries to her knees. The last, in July 2019, sidelined her for 408 days.

For the Brabas she made 115 appearances and scored 77 goals, ranking fourth on the club’s all-time scoring list. A return has long been desired by fans, and last year she said she had been happy at Corinthians and that she would be back soon.

Corinthians are preparing to face Arsenal in the final of the Copa das Campeãs, the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup. The decider is on Sunday at 15:00 Brasília time at the Emirates Stadium.
