Gabi Nunes was at Canindé on Monday to see Corinthians beat Mixto 4-1 in the Brasileirão Feminino, with her visit coming as the club pursue her return.
She shared the trip on social media. According to Meu Timao, an initial approach from Corinthians was turned down as below expectations.
The forward is expected to receive stronger offers from Europe, the United States and Mexico. Her Aston Villa deal runs to June, and she has confirmed she will not stay in Birmingham.
Even so, Nunes views a comeback favourably and regards Corinthians as a priority if she returns to Brazil. Head coach Emily Lima has recently suggested her signing to the board.
Nunes played for Corinthians from 2016 to 2021. She won five trophies, including the 2020 and 2021 league titles and the 2016 Copa do Brasil.
She scored 77 goals and supplied 20 assists, ranking fourth all time for the Brabas behind Grazi, Gabi Zanotti and Vic Albuquerque.
After leaving in mid-2021 she joined Madrid CFF, then Levante, before Aston Villa in 2024. She had lumbar disc surgery early this season, which limited her to one outing in 2025/26.
The win put Corinthians top on 28 points after 12 games. They face Palmeiras at 11 on Saturday at Nubank Parque in a single third-phase Copa do Brasil Feminina tie.
