Gabriel Grando has fractured the fifth finger of his right hand and faces an estimated eight-week absence, according to Globo.com.

Grêmio disclosed the issue before the meeting with Flamengo at the Arena in the 15th round of the Brasileirão.

Since Weverton’s arrival, Grando has largely been back-up and has appeared only three times, all in the Gauchão. His last outing was on 31 January, a 1-1 draw with Juventude at the Arena.

With Grando sidelined, Luís Castro should have Thiago Beltrame as Weverton’s understudy, with Gabriel Menegon also in contention.

Grando’s contract with Grêmio has been renewed through to the end of 2029.
