Arsenal could move for Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford on loan if Gabriel Martinelli leaves, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.
The Brazilian is reportedly on his way to Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal. Some insiders at Arsenal are surprised that they have not lined up a replacement.
Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona and was with Aston Villa for the second half of the previous campaign.
He has returned to Old Trafford and was involved against Hull City last weekend.
However, he could still leave before Tuesday’s transfer deadline and Arsenal could be monitoring his situation.
The England international is not currently in Man United’s starting XI but will get plenty of opportunities to impress given the number of games they are playing this season.
It is unclear whether Arteta views him as a starter if he joins Arsenal.
Rashford had a decent season at Barca, earning a World Cup spot with England, and he will be desperate to nail down a starting berth this term.
He could be open to leaving for a club where that would be guaranteed, but that may not be the case at Arsenal.
Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez is an option for the Gunners, with his club refusing to sell him to Barcelona.
