Galatasaray’s Champions League night at Anfield turned grim as Victor Osimhen fractured his right forearm and Noa Lang sustained a serious thumb injury, with both taken to hospital.
Osimhen was hurt in the first half and, despite finishing the opening period, was withdrawn at the break due to swelling. The club said in a statement that hospital checks confirmed a right forearm fracture, a cast was applied, and a decision on surgery will follow after further assessment in the coming days.
Lang came on at half-time, then collided with the advertising hoardings and was stretchered off after receiving oxygen on the pitch. He was taken to a local facility with what the club described as a serious injury to his right thumb, and he is due to have surgery in Liverpool within hours with the medical team present.
The defeat ends Galatasaray’s European campaign for this season.
Attention now returns to the Turkish Super Lig, where they sit top and have won four of their last five matches. Trabzonspor await early next month as they look to maintain their lead.
