The Blues completed a domestic double at Wembley, coming out on top against Brighton, with two goals on the stroke of half-time handing us a commanding lead.

While the scoreline looks to be one of dominance, City were indebted to Ayaka Yamashita in the first half, who was brave diving at the feet of Brighton players and was an all-round brick wall in our goal under the famous arches.

We built on that confidence instilled from Yamashita and took the lead before half-time through yet another Bunny Shaw header, with our top goalscorer rising highest in the box to nod home from close range and send the City faithful wild.

The Seagulls may have been content with going into the break just one goal down, but our standard setter and leader, Alex Greenwood, ensured we doubled our lead thanks to a special free kick that left Chiamaka Nnadozie with little chance.

The second half was all City, with our fans watching on with delight at the way Andrée Jeglertz’s side performed in the sweltering heat one more time during the 2025/26 season.

There was also to be a standout end to the game with substitute Aoba Fujino scoring just minutes after entering the field of play, before Vivianne Miedema marked her return to the matchday squad with a header as the game edged towards full time.

It was the perfect way to wrap up a fantastic campaign, with the final an accurate way to sum up the football we have played throughout the season.
