Garnacho needs to wake up and Rosenior needs to be tougher on him claims Chelsea loving pundit

Alejandro Garnacho continues to struggle at Chelsea. Not long ago a double against Arsenal looked like it might signal his breakout, especially considering Jamie Gittens’ struggles in the same position.

But Garnacho’s recent performances, especially against West Ham a couple of weeks ago where he was taken off at half time, have left a lot to be desired. Even the ever-positive Joe Cole, working for TNT Sport on last night’s game, had some home truths for the former Manchester United man, who didn’t even come on as a sub in the game.

Rosenior must be tougher on winger – who must grow up

Alejandro Garnacho speaks to Chelsea TV.

“Let’s just say he’s been controversial throughout his career,” Cole said of the winger after the game.

“I’ve played with players like that and you think the penny will drop when the penny will drop. If I was dealing with him, I would have really strict boundaries on the pitch, and off the pitch.

“Agree them with him, work with him, and just keep reminding him what a talented footballer he is. You stick within the boundaries and you keep developing yourself.”

Rosenior is known for his man management, so getting Garnacho back to his best will be a key part of his agenda for the rest of the season as he looks to maximise his options.

In other news…

Cole Palmer’s late miss was a shocker – Chelsea could have had the three points they deserved had he put it away. But as you’d expect, Liam Rosenior was hardly going to lay into his star attacker, who had more than done his part in the game.

Nicolas Jackson looks like he will be left out of Bayern Munich’s squad for tonight’s cup game against RB Leipzig. And potentially more squad going forward, now they have so many attacking options.
