Alejandro Garnacho is beginning to find his feet at Chelsea, which could have a positive knock-on effect on Manchester United.

The Argentine winger rose through the ranks of the Red Devils, cementing himself as one of the club’s best young jewels. He had his big breakthrough with the first team during Erik ten Hag’s reign, but Ruben Amorim’s appointment interrupted his momentum.

Only a few weeks following his arrival, the Portuguese tactician dropped Garnacho from his matchday squad for the Derby against Man City. Unlike Marcus Rashford, the youngster was swiftly reinstated, but he and Amorim never saw eye-to-eye.

Man United sold Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea for £40m

After an unpleasant Europa League final experience, followed by a post-match rant, Garnacho was inevitably placed in the so-called ‘bomb squad’, alongside fellow outcasts, Antony, Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia.

The 21-year-old ended up joining Chelsea who had been courting him since January. The Club World Cup winners splashed £40 million to secure his services.

The winger’s stint at Stamford Bridge began on a slow note. He was initially struggling for playing time, while some of his earliest performances in a Blue shirt were rather poor.

Nevertheless, Garnacho is beginning to find his feet in West London. He has now made the left-wing role his in Enzo Maresca’s 4-2-3-1 formation, and has recently contributed with two goals and a couple of assists.

How Man Utd can still benefit from Garnacho

According to The Manchester Evening News, Man Utd might also want their former player to succeed, as his sale to Chelsea also entailed a 10% sell-on fee.

So, as the report put it, if the Blues end up selling Garnacho for £80 million at some point, United would be entitled to a £8 million boost.

After leaving the club on a sour note, the Reds supporters are unlikely to be enchanted by the player’s exploits in a Chelsea shirt.

However, the club’s directors have a much more calculated approach, so they would certainly appreciate a decent financial boost, as it could help fund their transfer business.
