After Victor Osimhen’s match-winning goal secured Galatasaray a 1-0 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League, the triumph made major headlines across England.

The former England football legend and commentator Gary Lineker used his post-match remarks to extend an apology to the Nigerian striker:

I want to apologize to Victor Osimhen. I used to say he sometimes got lost on the pitch, but things are totally different now. I shouldn’t have made those kinds of comments, that’s on me.

Lineker also praised the player’s abilities: “He’s fast, tall, a clinical finisher, and extremely effective in the air. He truly is a top-class player.”
