Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini analyzed the team’s 1-2 win over Fiorentina in this afternoon’s Serie A fixture.

“The spaces were inviting, but we weren’t able to exploit them well with Dybala and in other situations,” Gasperini told DAZN after the game.

“We were struggling, so we thought about controlling the result near the end and took a risk on Gosens. Piccoli’s shot was dangerous, but we controlled the incidents and didn’t produce any great counterattacks in the second half.”

“Dybala and Pellegrini? At the moment, these two are the ones with the most quality. They were skilled at controlling and defending the ball. Fiorentina, with three attackers, was difficult to handle. We could have suffered for a long time, but thanks to their ball control, we managed it well.”

“Ferguson had an ankle problem and was unable to play. Dybala returned on Friday and never loses his technique. He can play for a few minutes in any attacking role, but in my opinion, he needs to play with a striker up front; he can’t be a centre-forward.”

“First place? I’m happy for the fans, for the team. It’s a reward for their performances. Some people still don’t give us credit for being in that position, but the team is improving and the quality of their play is growing.”

“There’s great dedication, and I’m particularly happy for the lads. We’re going into the break with a lot of confidence and we know what we need to improve on. Congratulations to them. We’re enjoying this moment.”
