Gaston Ávila rumoured to leave Ajax on loan

Reports from Transferwatch NL suggest that left-back Gaston Ávila looks set to leave Ajax on loan. There is interest from several clubs for the 23-year-old Argentinian, yet he has not yet made a choice about where he would like to play. His loan will likely be outside of Europe.

Ajax paid around 12 million euros to Royal Antwerp for Avila in the summer of 2023. However, he has made just five Eredivisie outings so far in his time in the Dutch capital.

Hopes of first-team action were hindered further when Avila suffered a cruciate ligament injury in early January 2024. The player has just recovered from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Francesco Farioli and the wider Ajax management team are prepared to let the Boca Juniors academy graduate go temporarily to gain match fitness and form after such a long time out.
