By starting against Cape Verde on Monday, Gavi became, according to Opta, the sixth player ever to play at two FIFA World Cups before the age of 21.

He joins Pelé, Norman Whiteside, Rigobert Song, Salomon Olembé and Samuel Eto'o. Team-mate Lamine Yamal, 18, is experiencing his first World Cup.

At Qatar 2022, the Barcelona academy product featured in five matches for Spain.
