FC Barcelona continued showing their amazing form at this start of the 2026-27 season as they played their last La Liga game against Racing Club, and emerged winners with a 7-2 scoreline. Raphinha, Karim Adeyemi, and Joao Cancelo were the most prominent performers in this match, with the Brazilian forward scoring a hat-trick, and the Portuguese fullback scoring what he described as the best goal of his career.

Although he did not play as prominent a role as these players, another player who got minutes in this game was the midfielder Gavi. Hansi Flick subbed him on for the final stretch of the match, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spaniard also talked to the media after the end of the game.

The midfielder expressed his happiness at seeing his Barcelona team start the new season in such a great fashion:

“The truth is that we are doing very well. We are very satisfied with the work we have done so far, but in the end, the season is very long and we have to maintain this pace. Keeping up this level is what is important.

I think we have improved a lot this year when it comes to the start of matches. We score goals very quickly, and the chances we get—if we have two or three, they go in. We have to maintain this pace because, in the end, the season is long and the more goals we score, the better.”

On the other hand, Gavi also opened up about the difficulties he has faced with injuries in recent years:

“These past few years have been difficult for me, everyone knows that, because I have suffered some very serious injuries. Not everyone comes back and plays at the level I have returned at. I’m telling you because it is very difficult when you have knee injuries. With the manager, even though I have suffered serious injuries in recent years, I have played important matches under him and come on as a substitute.”

There is no doubt that the last few seasons have been anything but easy for Gavi, who has suffered more than one serious injury. There was a concern about a serious injury at the start of this season as well, but fortunately, it turned out to be only a knock, and he is once again available to play for Hansi Flick. Hopefully, he will get more chances to play in the upcoming games, and prove to be a useful resource for Barcelona.
