Gavi remains out as Barcelona prepare for third La Liga game | OneFootball

Following their wins against Elche and Athletic Club, FC Barcelona are set to play another league match tomorrow, on Monday, when they will face Rayo Vallecano. Hansi Flick is already preparing his team for this game, which is scheduled to be played at the Spotify Camp Nou.

However, as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the German coach remains without several of his players ahead of this game. One of these players is the midfielder Gavi, who suffered a knock to his right knee during the first game of the season against Elche, and has not yet been able to rejoin the group in training.

On Wednesday, Flick had stated that the Spaniard would have to spend around a week in recovery, and thus, he is expected to return to normal training only after Monday’s game against Vallecano, when the team will start preparing for its fourth game of the season, against Valencia.

Other midfielders like Frenkie de Jong and Marc Casado also remained absent from training. The former is recovering from an injury he suffered during the World Cup, while the latter is not training with the rest of the team because he is set to finalize a transfer before the end of this summer transfer window.

On the other hand, the new signing Dominik Livakovic is training with the team, even though he is not yet registered and cannot play against Rayo. Similarly, Jesse Bisiwu also continues to train with the first team, despite the fact that he also cannot play with them officially yet because of bureaucratic issues. Other youngsters like Hamza Abdelkarim and Brian Farinas also trained with the first team ahead of this game.

With all these options and absences, it remains to be seen whether Hansi Flick will make any changes to his Barcelona starting lineup for Monday’s game or continue with the players who have started in the first two games of the season.
