Durban City head coach Gavin Hunt was tight-lipped when asked about the departure of Technical Director Ernst Midderndorp after just three months.

The German was tasked with overseeing the club's youth structures, scouting department, and molding the long-term football philosophy.

However, despite working in different capacities, the pair reportedly had a strained relationship, which led to the abrupt exit of Midderndorp.

When pressed about the situation, the former SuperSport United mentor refused to delve deep into the matter.

“I think it's important that we talk about the game. Are we here to talk about the game or is it about anything else? Let's talk about the game rather,” rebuffed Hunt.

Hunt went on to provide an update on Luphumlo ‘Kaka’ Sifumba's readiness for first-team football. The 20-year-old starlet, who arrived from Cape Town City has been featuring in the Dstv Diski Challenge [DDC] team.

“He is training with us everyday. We are obviously looking at him closely, besides looking at his numbers and performances, what he can give us - versatility, trying him in a few different things. So, he is close,” explained the City boss.

Hunt's men will be keen to maintain their rich vein of fine form when they face AmaZulu in the KZN derby at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. City are in fourth place on the Betway Premiership standings, while Usuthu occupy position nine.
