Injury issues have once again plagued Ruben Loftus-Cheek this season and he has been sidelined for some time, but a return date has now been set.
As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, Loftus-Cheek has been out since the beginning of January, after participating in the final minutes of the 3-2 victory over Inter in the Supercoppa Italiana which re-aggravated a problem.
Conceiçao confirmed this in his pre-match press conference before the Cagliari game, stating: “There’s a small problem with Ruben, he won’t be there for the match tomorrow. He had a relapse yesterday, I’m sorry because he was growing physically.”
The Englishman is working at Milanello and is aiming to be available again for the league match against Verona on February 15. He will therefore miss the away games against Empoli in Serie A and Rotterdam in the Champions League against Feyenoord.
Given that Conceicao likes his team to be aggressive and direct, Loftus-Cheek is one of the players that could be a good fit under him on paper but so far he has been able to showcase his qualities.
Since joining Milan he has suffered five different injuries with his adductor being three of them, plus a hamstring issue and fatigue, for a combined 23 games missed.
