Genk and Standard Liege face off on Saturday in a clash that may well determine who advances to play a team in the Champions Play Offs for the final European ticket up for grabs. Genk went into the play-offs in the top spot but have been inconsistent so far. However, at the weekend they ran out 3-0 winners over Westerlo, a result that may end the latter’s chances of finishing first.
Standard Liege beat OH Leuven 2-1 to draw level with Genk on 33 points. As Genk were leading going into the play-offs, they will remain in first place. Should the teams finish the season level on points, then Genk would remain in top spot. Standard will welcome Genk to Liege on Saturday hoping to take advantage of being at home. Standard did win the home leg this season by a score line of 2-1. A similar result on Saturday will see Standard take control of the play-offs with two games left to go.
Genk face Antwerp and OH Leuven in their final two games, while Standard face Westerlo and local rivals Charleroi.
