Genoa President Alberto Zangrillo insists Inter and Juventus target Albert Gudmundsson ‘can stay’ this season, along with Mexico international Johan Vasquez.

The Grifone impressed following promotion to Serie A last summer and finished comfortably mid-table under coach Alberto Gilardino.

Their standout performer was Iceland international Gudmundsson, who scored 16 goals and provided five assists in 37 games between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

The 27-year-old earned interest from multiple clubs, above all Inter and Juventus, but refused all offers so far.

Genoa in no rush over Gudmundsson

“I said that Albert must dream, but he can continue doing that at Genoa, that is what I hope,” Zangrillo told reporters as he drove away from the Lega Serie A assembly.

“There is no problem. The impression we get, as Gilardino said, is that Albert can stay in Liguria.”

Is there a price-tag set on Gudmundsson that would get his club to waver?

“No, I don’t say numbers. I don’t know what I have in my pocket right now…”

There have also been reports from TNT Sports Mexico in recent days that defender Vasquez has attracted interest from multiple clubs, including Inter.

“He is staying where he is,” insisted the President.

Genoa already did business with Inter this summer by selling them goalkeeper Josep Martinez for €15m including add-ons.
