Sacha Tavolieri is reporting that Gent are interested in signing Metz Gambian international winger Ablie Jallow. The 24-year-old has experience in the Belgian Pro League, having played for RFC Seraing during their 2021/2022 season. He also played for the Liege based side during their 2020/2021 campaign which saw them promoted to the Belgian first tier. In 49 games on loan at Seraing, the winger scored 10 goals, five of which came in the Pro League.
Jallow returned to FC Metz, where he made 34 appearances last season and scored six goals alongside five assists in Ligue 2. He has also been capped at international level by Gambia and made history when he became the countries first ever goal scorer in an AFCON tournament finals in 2022.
According to Tavolieri, Gent are looking for a new winger and see Jallow as the man to fill the space. The side have strengthened in other areas, signing Tsuyoshi Watanabe from Kortrijk and Ismaël Kandouss from Union St Gilloise to bolster their central defensive department. They also brought in new central midfielder in Pieter Gerkens and Keegan Jelacic.
