Luc Holtz has been relieved of his duties by FC Metz, who have swiftly appointed former player Grégory Proment as his replacement.

Holtz joined Les Grenats following their relegation to Ligue 2 last summer. His predecessor, Tavenot, endured a torrid stint at the club, failing to win any of his 16 games in charge after replacing Stéphane Le Mignan in January. The objective set for Holtz was clear: promotion back to Ligue 1. However, heading into the international break, Metz sit fifth in Ligue 2, six points off league leaders AS Saint-Étienne.

Despite Holtz’s contract running until 2028, he was relieved of his duties on Monday. His replacement was named just moments later. Proment, a former France youth international, spent much of his playing career with Les Grénats and has described managing the side as a “dream” in the past. His most recent role in management was at Clermont Foot. He left in the summer of 2026, after just one season at the helm.
