Geoffrey Moncada will not be Nice’s next sporting director

Geoffrey Moncada will not be Nice’s next sporting director after eight years at AC Milan. According to L'Équipe, the former AC Milan technical director will not take up the role.

He had spent the past month shaping plans for the squad and was involved in hiring Olivier Pantaloni, whose appointment as head coach has been confirmed.

An early July announcement for Moncada had been in the works, following the end of his contract with AC Milan, but the move is now off.

The 40-year-old Frenchman cannot commit on a long-term basis, with personal reasons cited.

Club president Maurice Cohen must now move quickly to appoint a new sporting director. A colossal transfer window awaits, focused on player sales as Nice need to cut the wage bill and fund signings through departures.
