Chelsea will face off against Cardiff City at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night as they look to secure a good result on the road in the EFL Cup. The Blues managed to earn a solid 2-0 win over Everton in the Premier League last weekend, which should keep them in good spirits ahead of this game.

Enzo Maresca will set his players up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make a whole host of changes to his first team for this game. Tyrique George will get the nod to lead the line for the West London club up top.

Defence

Filip Jorgensen will feature in between the sticks for the Blues as he looks to keep a clean sheet in midweek. Tosin Adarabioyo will function alongside Benoit Badiashile at the centre of the Chelsea backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the game.

Josh Acheampong will fill in as the right-back, while Jorell Hato hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to go forward and express themselves inside the opponent’s half.

Wesley Fofana and Trevoh Chalobah will have to settle for a spot on the bench as they offer cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield

Moises Caicedo and Andrey Santos will anchor the midfield for the London giants as they look to win the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park.

The gifted trio of Jamie Gittens, Facundo Buonanotte and Estevao will play just ahead of them as part of the Chelsea attack. All three of them need to be at their best if the Blues are to earn a convincing win this weekend.

Pedro Neto and Cole Palmer will be named on the bench as they wait for their chance to shine in the second 45 minutes if needed.

Attack

Tyrqiue George will spearhead Maresca’s attack up top. He would be eager to get his name on the scoresheet versus Cardiff this weekend.

Joao Pedro will be rested on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the final quarter of the game if Chelsea are in need of a goal by then.
