"The club isn't looking good right now and isn't healthy. The discrepancy between expectations and reality is far too great."
Wolfsburg's Yannick Gerhardt told DAZN after a 4-0 defeat to VfB Stuttgart.
Head coach Daniel Bauer said: "I'm ready and willing to go all the way and give my all to keep us in the league. I'm ready, but I'm not the one who decides."
He added: "The fact is, we need to change many structures. The atmosphere and culture within the club is not Bundesliga-worthy. We need to instill a new mindset in the entire structure."
Before kick-off, supervisory board chairman Sebastian Rudolph said Daniel Bauer had "100 percent backing".
