Werder Bremen have today confirmed that Nick Woltemade (22) will leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
According to Kicker, Werder wanted to extend the contract of Woltemade, who has been at the club since 2010, with negotiations taking place but both parties failed to find an agreement. A new club has already been found and a contract has been signed but while being unnamed, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Stuttgart and Hoffenheim have all shown an interest.
Woltemade spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Elversberg, helping the 3. Liga side to promotion to the second division as champions, while being named the third best player in the league. Last season was one of development for Woltemade, who has since played 23 games for Bremen this season.
The German youth international also posted the news on Instagram: “The time has come to take on a new challenge starting in the summer.”
