Germany started strongly against the Squadra Azzurra in the sold-out Dortmund stadium (64,762 spectators). From the first whistle, the squad included Borussian Nico Schlotterbeck. The DFB team managed to establish a commanding 3-0 lead in the first half (Kimmich, Musiala, Kleindienst) which was absolutely deserved. But in the second half the Italians fought back, resulting in a final score of 3-3. However, this didn't prevent Germany from progressing to the semi-final of the Nations League. Pascal Groß and Karim Adeyemi came on in the second half (63).

In the 74th minute, when Germany were 3-2 up, VAR came into play: Schlotterbeck blocked Giovanni Di Lorenzo's pass with a sliding tackle in the penalty area, referee Szymo Marciniak at first awarded a penalty, but then revoked his decision after watching a replay of the scene at the edge of the pitch. Although Germany conceded an equalising goal in added time (90+5), the team progressed to the semi-final of the UEFA Nations League on Thursday due to their win in the first game.

Salih Özcan came onto the pitch in the second half of Turkey's 3-0 (2-0) winning game against Hungary on Sunday evening in the Nations League. He and his teammates were able to extend Turkey's lead in the last 45 minutes. With two wins against Hungary, Turkey has advanced to League A in the Nations League.

Julien Duranville not only celebrated a well-earned 4-0 win with the Belgian Under-21s on Sunday in their friendly against Andorra - the Borussian was also among the goalscorers, scoring the goal that extended his team's lead to 3-0 (85).

Gio Reyna missed out on a medal at the weekend: the USA were defeated 1-2 by Canada in the third-place game of the Concacaf Nations League. The Borussian came on in the 69th minute when Canada were already 2-1 up.

On Saturday evening Julian Ryerson was part of the Norwegian team that celebrated a convincing 5-0 win against Moldova to kick off the World Cup qualifying round. The Borussian scored the opening goal in the 5th minute, smashing the ball into the net, from seven metres away inside the penalty area, with his left foot.

Kjell Wätjen was also among Saturday's goalscorers. The Borussian played for the German Under-19s alongside Almugera Kabar in the qualifying game for the Euros against the Finnish junior team. Wätjen won the ball and scored with his right foot after only ten minutes, taking the DFB team into the lead. Although Finland later equalised, the German team came back to win 2-1, meaning they have qualified early for the Euros in summer.
