Steven Gerrard has said he would love to go ‘toe-to-toe’ with Jude Bellingham when discussing the best midfielders in the current game.
The former Liverpool and England captain was asked which current players he admires, and named two current Three Lions’ stars among the finest right now.
Gerrard discussed his admiration for Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice, praising the 26-year-old for going to the ‘next level’ since his high-profile move to North London.
He also hailed Bellingham and admitted a duel with the Real Madrid midfielder would be one he would have relished.
“I think Declan Rice is a really really good midfielder. I like an awful lot about him,” he told Rio Ferdinand Presents.
“I like the kid, I like his mentality, I like the way he’s gone to the next level at Arsenal. He’s adding different things to his game. I think he’d be a really tough, strong, opponent. Good challenge.
“Jude Bellingham. If he was in the Premier League, I’d love to go toe-to-toe with him. I really thing that would be interesting and good. They’re the two best at the moment.”
