Gianni Infantino has signalled he is open to a fairer redistribution of FIFA’s reserves, after calls from Aleksander Ceferin and confederation leaders for direct payouts.

According to The Athletic, the FIFA president supports increasing payments to member associations, with the governing body holding around six billion dollars in reserves.

The FIFA Council will study proposals at its meeting on 15 October. An allocation of at least 10 million dollars per member association across 2027-2030 has been discussed.

Infantino said he would back the highest level of additional funding that can be delivered responsibly, provided precise financial models and transparency guarantees are in place.

The review follows the abandonment of the contentious FIFA Forward Enterprise project.
