As reported by as.com, Asier Hierro, Elijah Gift, Ibon Sánchez and Jon de Luis trained with Athletic’s first team at Lezama on Tuesday and have been named in the squad to face Sporting de Portugal.

Dani Vivian misses out with an overload of the adductor muscles in his left leg. He joins Sannadi, Prados, Egiluz, Laporte, Iñaki Williams and Nico Williams in the treatment room, with Jauregizar suspended.

Gift, an 18-year-old winger from Corella, Navarra, usually operates on the left like Nico Williams. Signed from Liverpool’s academy in 2023-24 for €1.5 million, he has caught the eye recently in the Primera Federación with Bilbao Athletic and makes his first senior squad in the Champions League, wearing shirt number 40.

Promoted this season from Basconia, where he played 18 matches and scored six goals, he has 16 under Jokin Aranbarri so far.

Nico Williams, still managing pubalgia, did not train with the group. Laporte worked alone and is not involved against the Portuguese side, with the Basque derby against Real on Sunday at San Mamés ahead.
