Gift Orban was involved in a physical altercation with a Hellas Verona supporter outside the Bentegodi after Sunday’s 0-1 defeat to AC Milan. The club said in a statement that it condemns violent behaviour and reserves the right to carry out further assessments.
It was Verona’s fifth defeat in a row, leaving them heading towards Serie B after spending much of the season in the bottom three. The confrontation occurred at the exit of the stadium car park and was filmed by a bystander.
Orban reportedly refused to stop for a photo with a child, saying he was in a hurry, before driving away. Another supporter is said to have punched his car bonnet.
Orban then got out, grabbed the person by the neck and had to be restrained by a security staff member.
The former OL striker, 23, joined last summer on loan from Hoffenheim. He later posted an Instagram story showing a photo with hearts in the club’s colours. He is Verona’s top scorer this season with seven, but has not scored for nearly three months.
