Gigi Maifredi does not think injury is an excuse for the current Juventus team

Juventus have lost several key players to injuries since the season began, and it has been difficult for them to cope with the absence of some of their most important stars. However, there is a reason clubs have squads of up to 25 players.

In addition to their senior squad, Juve have a B team that the club is proud of, giving them another option when injuries affect the first team. Some players can be promoted to help cover for unavailable members of the senior side.

No one expects Juventus to avoid injuries throughout a season, but every team has to deal with fitness problems. Using injuries as the main explanation for a poor run of form can therefore be too easy, particularly when other clubs have faced similar difficulties.

Some teams have dealt with even worse injury problems and still managed to perform better and beat Juventus. This suggests that the main issue does not simply come from the players who are unavailable.

Juventus Must Find Other Answers

Even when some of their injured stars were fit, Juventus still missed opportunities to collect important points. That means their problems cannot all be blamed on the players currently sitting on the sidelines.

Some supporters may believe the injuries are taking a toll on the team, although Luciano Spalletti does not completely agree with that assessment. The manager will need to find solutions with the players available to him.

Juve have enough options within their squad and B team to provide additional cover, meaning those players must now show that they can contribute when required. The absence of key figures should not prevent the club from competing.

Maifredi Rejects Injury Excuse

Pundit Gigi Maifredi does not believe Juventus should use their injury problems as an excuse for their performances. He feels the team can cope with the absence of important players, but believes they are missing another crucial quality.

He said via Tuttomercatoweb:

“It’s crazy. Many blame injuries, but the team can handle Locatelli’s absence. However, you need to have an enthusiasm within them that they don’t have now; they all feel under scrutiny.”

Maifredi highlights a wider problem for Juventus, with confidence and enthusiasm appearing just as important as the players available. The Bianconeri must improve their performances rather than relying on injuries to explain their struggles.
