Going into the international break on a high

FC Red Bull Salzburg Women 3-1 First Vienna FC (H/T:1-1). Goals: Pamminger (13'), Plattner (65', 90+3') - Wasser (21')

The side coached by Dusan Pavlovic - who described the performance as his team's "best of the season" - gave little away at the back, while substitute Maria Plattner and her team-mates delivered the goals in a 3–1 home win over First Vienna FC. Having secured seven points from their last three ADMIRAL Women's Bundesliga matches, the team now heads into the two-week international break.

Match summary

Their goalscoring records to date might not have suggested it, yet both our team and the visitors from Vienna displayed clinical efficiency this afternoon. Two chances apiece, one goal each - that was the general theme of the opening 45 minutes. After Alessia Pamminger had fired an early warning shot, she capitalised on a textbook flick-on from a throw-in by Emelie Kobler, while a clearance attempt by the Vienna side fell straight to Pamminger, and the 18-year-old coolly slotted the ball home to give us the lead (13').

The response from the team from the capital - after the kick-off was delayed by 15 minutes due to traffic - was swift as goalkeeper Valerie Guha managed to gather a shot from Höcherl at the second attempt. Yet, thanks to captain Wasser, the visitors suddenly gained the upper hand. Our girls failed to clear the ball decisively from the edge of their own penalty area - Vienna’s skipper pounced on the loose ball, cut inside, and buried it in the bottom left corner (21').

The match began as a hard-fought contest and remained that way throughout. Thus, a well-struck but ultimately unsuccessful long-range effort from Grünwald became the final opportunity before the break.

After the restart, Pavlovic’s squad once again took control of the tempo, and the reward followed immediately. Although goalkeeper Kandlhofer initially managed to gather a header from Akrap at the second attempt, she was powerless against a deflected free-kick from substitute Maria Plattner - restoring the lead (65')! Chances to ensure a more comfortable finish went begging, yet there was still a final flourish: Maria Plattner, set up by Katja Wienerroither, slotted the ball into the far corner, giving us reason to celebrate a 3–1 home win!

That was our best performance of the season so far, across all phases of the game! We made a strong physical impact in the first half, played with intensity, and were constantly pushing forward - our pressing worked brilliantly. The substitutes were real game-changers. That was part of our match plan. We’ve made huge strides over the last three weeks, starting with the LASK game - this is exactly how we wanted to head into the international break!
