La Liga high-flyers Girona are closing on an agreement for the club’s first signing of the summer transfer window.
That’s according to Relevo, who point towards Ladislav Krejčí as the player firmly in the sights of the brass at the Estadi Montilivi.
Krejčí, for his part, is a 25-year-old Czech international, who is currently plying his trade in his home country with heavyweights Sparta Prague.
Long considered one of the standout talents in the Fortuna Liga, Krejčí chiefly lines out as a central defender.
His impressive abilities on the ball, however, mean that the seven-time international is also more than capable of stepping into midfield.
And Krejčí is a regular contributor in the final third, too, with his haul of 11 goals and four assists across 36 appearances this season a real testament to his versatility.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear of one of Spanish football’s leading clubs pushing hard to bring the Czech in with a view to the 2024/25 campaign.
As per the aforementioned Relevo:
‘Girona and Sparta Prague are negotiating intensely’ over a summer transfer for Krejčí.
Though an agreement has not yet been finalised, as much is considered to be ‘close’, with the Girona board pushing hard for the signature of a player whom they view as a potentially key protagonist in their first-ever venture into the Champions League next season.
The Catalans have to date offered up €10 million, albeit with Sparta continuing to ask for closer to €13/14 million.
Nevertheless, a compromise is expected to be found, to send Krejčí to La Liga for the season to come.
