Borussia Mönchengladbach have confirmed that Nathan Ngoumou has left the club after four years.
The 26-year-old, who had one year left on his Gladbach contract, has joined OGC Nice on a permanent deal.
“Nathan is coming back from a long-term injury and needs time and regular football to get back to where he was before the injury,” said Gladbach head of sports Rouven Schröder.
“Given the competition for places, we can’t offer him those things. With his contract also due to expire in 2027, this is the best outcome for everyone involved. We’d like to thank him for everything he’s given Borussia, wish him all the best for the future and, most importantly, good health.”
Ngoumou, who scored nine goals and provided five assists in 78 appearances for Die Fohlen, said:
“I’d like to thank everyone at the club and all the fans. My time here has helped me grow as a person and given me experiences that I’ll always remember."
The Frenchman also expressed his gratitude for the support he received during the 2025/26 season, which he missed entirely after rupturing his Achilles tendon in April last year.
“What stood out to me most was the close-knit and welcoming atmosphere at Borussia, which helped me enormously, particularly during the difficult moments I went through over the past year. I really wish I could have given even more to the club and its fans, and I wish Borussia nothing but the very best for the coming season and the years ahead. This club and its supporters deserve nothing less.”
