Nottingham Forest boss Oliver Glasner urged the need for patience after his side began their Premier League campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Leeds.

Anton Stach’s late winner condemned Forest to defeat at Elland Road, but Glasner believes his players showed encouraging signs despite the result.

“There is no button to press,” Glasner said. “It is getting confidence in what we are doing.

“We still have a lot of things to do. I could see a lot of encouraging things but it is a process. You always have to respect the opposition, and the opposition was very physical and strong.”

Glasner acknowledged there would be no immediate transformation after taking charge, insisting his players need time to adapt to his methods.

“It was pretty clear that I can’t come with my staff and we lay the hands on the (players’) shoulder, and all of a sudden we play like Real Madrid in the 70s or whatever,” he added.

“That was clear. I could see a team that worked very hard to get the win, especially in the second half.

“But let’s say today, it gives me and us great feedback on how we deal now with this situation and this defeat.”
