Bild reports that Serge Gnabry will start and captain Germany against Serbia on Thursday, with Joshua Kimmich absent, and that Bayern team-mate Lennart Karl, 18, will be on the bench.

On Wednesday, Jürgen Klopp said the player with the most international appearances would wear the captain's armband.

Kimmich was named in the first of two squads selected by Klopp and has now returned home, with the second group taking over.

Gnabry, 31, has 61 caps, making him the most experienced player in the current squad.

Gnabry is a Bayern Munich attacker.
