According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the Premier League’s first relegation has been confirmed after West Ham’s draw at Crystal Palace, a result that also gave Leeds United a modest lift.

Leeds moved eight points clear of the dropzone on Saturday with a 3-0 home win over Wolves, before third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur conceded a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw at home to Brighton.

That victory left Leeds seven ahead of fourth-bottom West Ham, who had a game in hand away at Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Chasing a win that would have moved them four points clear of the dropzone, the visitors controlled long spells, with Jarrod Bowen a regular threat, before Palace finished the stronger.

It finished goalless, so West Ham took a point in their survival push and Spurs remained two points adrift of safety.

The stalemate also sealed Wolves’ mathematical relegation, their maximum possible tally now 33 points, one fewer than West Ham’s current 33.
