Two goal-fests in Scandinavia and a pair of clashes with Eagles on either side made for an exciting round of international matches.

Six Eintracht players in action across four matches, two lots of Eagles facing one another and no fewer than 17 goals, one of them scored by a Frankfurt player – the 2024/25 season’s final set of international fixtures did not disappoint, with thrilling matches everywhere from Scandinavia to the USA.

Three players from the heart of Europe made their way up to Scandinavia on Tuesday evening to represent their countries. Hugo Larsson’s Sweden faced Farès Chaibi’s Algeria at the Strawberry Arena in Solna. Larsson was in the starting line-up for the Tre Kronor, who raced into a 4-0 lead after 56 minutes, but the visitors were far from undaunted. Chaibi came on for them in the 79th minute and was part of a comeback that fell just short, with Sweden running out 4-3 winners.

Kristensen on the mark

Fans at the Nature Energy Park in Odense were also given plenty to cheer as Denmark thrashed Lithuania 5-0. Twenty-seven-year-old Rasmus Kristensen scored the fourth – his second goal in red after opening his account on 23 March against Portugal.

Switzerland were also on fine form on Tuesday night local time, Wednesday morning CEST at the Geodis Park in Nashville. The Swiss defeated USA 4-0, scoring all four of their goals between the 13th and the 36th minute. Paxten Aaronson played the first half for USA, who kick off their Gold Cup campaign in five days’ time, while Aurèle Amenda played the last 20 minutes for Switzerland.

Around 500 miles to the east at the Kenan Stadium in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Mexico took on Turkey. El Tri won 1-0, but Can Uzun – who came off the bench four days earlier against USA – was an unused substitute this time around.
