Gomes Rodriguez joins FC Annecy on loan from Lyon until season’s end

Lyon have loaned 17-year-old forward Alejandro Gomes Rodriguez to FC Annecy until the end of the season. According to Le Progres, the deal carries no fee and includes no option to buy.

The England Under-20 international has struggled for minutes at OL despite scoring his first senior goal against PAOK Salonique in the Europa League last Thursday. He has made five appearances off the bench since last season.

The move echoes Enzo Molebe’s temporary switch to Montpellier, also arranged to the end of the season without a purchase clause.

Paulo Fonseca had indicated that a winter loan could help accelerate the teenager’s development.

FC Annecy are eighth in Ligue 2 and harbour ambitions this term. Lyon plan to monitor Gomes Rodriguez closely with a view to possible reintegration at the start of next season.
