América are confident that the injuries that plagued their season will have cleared up somewhat by the time they start the Guard1anes 2020 play-offs later this month.
The Azulcrema struggled to keep players fit during the regular season, leading some observers and fans to point accusatory fingers the the club’s medical staff.
However, according to ESPN reporter Cesar Caballero, Las Águilas will have Emanuel Aguilera and Sebastián Cáceres back in training by Monday.
Both players sat out last Friday’s 1-1 draw at Juárez due to muscle concerns, with manager Miguel Herrera not prepared to take any chances after a top-four finish had already been secured.
América are also wrapping playmaker Giovani dos Santos up in cotton wool.
The former Barcelona and Tottenham man has dealt with muscle problems ever since joining from LA Galaxy.
“I tell you a little about Aguilera and Cáceres,” Caballero tweeted.
“Both centre-backs are rehabilitating but at the latest they will be back in practice next Monday, they are contemplated for the quarter-finals.
“With Gio you always have to go more calmly, they wait for his evolution.”
By finishing third in the table, América received a bye into the last eight.
They will need to wait for results from the first round before they learn who their opponents will be in La Liguilla.
