Goretzka, Alaba & Co. – These former Bayern stars are still without a club | OneFootball

The World Cup is over, and preparations for the new season are already in full swing at most clubs. While numerous high-profile transfers have long since been finalized, some prominent soccer players are still waiting for a new team. Among them are several former FC Bayern players.

The summer transfer market has really picked up steam in recent weeks. Numerous Bundesliga clubs and top international teams have already bolstered their rosters. Nevertheless, there are still some well-known players whose contracts expired at the end of June and who have not yet found a new club.

This is particularly noticeable from FC Bayern’s perspective: several former key players are currently without a club.

Goretzka is among the most sought-after players without a club

The most prominent name on the list is likely Leon Goretzka. Following his departure from FC Bayern, the 31-year-old is still searching for a new challenge. There is clearly no shortage of interest. In recent months, the German national team player has repeatedly been linked to top European clubs in England, Italy, Spain, and Turkey.

So far, however, no transfer has materialized. According to media reports, the midfielder’s financial demands in particular are said to be a stumbling block. Goretzka is reportedly asking for a signing bonus of at least ten million euros, which is said to have deterred potential suitors so far.

Alaba, Guerreiro, and Coutinho Are Also Looking for New Clubs

Raphael Guerreiro is also still without a new club following the expiration of his contract with FC Bayern. Thanks to his versatility, the Portuguese player continues to be an attractive prospect. In addition to playing left back, he was regularly deployed in central or attacking midfield during his time in Munich. Most recently, Guerreiro has been linked to a return to Portugal as well as a move to Bayer Leverkusen, among other options.

David Alaba is another former Bayern star looking for a new challenge. The 34-year-old was most recently under contract with Real Madrid for five years, but his play there was repeatedly hampered by injuries in recent seasons. Major League Soccer is currently considered the most likely destination. Inter Miami, led by Lionel Messi, is reportedly showing particular interest in the Austrian defensive all-rounder.

Rounding out the quartet is Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian won the treble with FC Bayern in 2020 and most recently played for Vasco da Gama in his home country. Currently, there are strong indications that the attacking midfielder will continue his career in Brazil.

Whether it’s Goretzka, Alaba, Guerreiro, or Coutinho: Despite their advanced age in soccer terms, all four have plenty of experience at the highest level. With the World Cup now over, the transfer market is likely to pick up significant momentum again in the coming weeks—and with it, the chances that these former Bayern pros will soon be able to announce a new club.
