Real Sociedad’s midfield issues persist ahead of Saturday 11 April at 14:00 against Alavés at Anoeta, with Jon Gorrotxategi ruled out due to adductor fatigue. According to Diario Vasco, the plan is for him to be ready for the Copa del Rey final on 18 April, and there is hope he will make it.

The setback is significant because Yangel Herrera remains sidelined and is not expected to face Alavés or Atlético de Madrid in Sevilla. That leaves Turrientes as the only defensive midfielder. Zubeldia, Odriozola and Rupérez are also injured, while Jon Martín is suspended.

In response, Matarazzo called up Luken Beitia, Kazunari Kita, Ibai Aguirre and Mikel Rodríguez for Wednesday’s session at José Luis Orbegozo. Rodríguez, from Getaria, is over 23, so cannot play for the top-flight side, though he can train and add quality in Zubieta.

Beitia and Kita bolster a depleted centre-back unit, with Aritz and Caleta-Car likely to start. Aguirre made his first-team bow last Saturday against Levante, and Rino has full confidence in him.

The best news from Wednesday’s training was that Soler and Guedes worked normally after missing Tuesday for load management. Both are key players, and Take Kubo could get his first minutes in two and a half months on Saturday.

Matarazzo is not expected to spring surprises against Alavés or rest players with the final seven days away. A probable XI is Remiro, Aramburu, Aritz, Caleta-Car, Sergio, Turrientes, Soler, Sucic, Barrene, Oyarzabal and Guedes.
