Sheffield United have signed Peterborough United captain Harrison Burrows this summer after the left-back won the League One Player of the Year award last season.
Burrows has signed a four-year contract at Bramall Lane, after Peterborough and Sheffield United agreed a deal that could turn out to be worth £6 million with all add-ons achieved, according to the Peterborough Telegraph.
The 22-year-old starred for the Posh last season with 30 goal contributions in all competitions, helping the club reach the play-offs in League One as well as lifting the EFL Trophy at Wembley.
Chris Wilder will hope that the promising left-back can continue his excellent form in the Championship, as the Blades look to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking following the disappointment of relegation last season.
Burrows, who came through the ranks at Peterborough, impressed in his only season of Championship football so far, when he scored three goals and assisted seven despite the Posh suffering relegation during the 2021/22 campaign.
Football League World's Posh fan pundit, Alex Batt, believes that Burrows' move to Sheffield United was a good deal for Peterborough, and explained that it will be interesting to see how the player settles in at a bigger club after his standout season in League One.
"I think £6 million for Harrison Burrows is a pretty good deal for Posh," said Batt.
"If we're going to be honest, he has only really had one standout season for us. Obviously, it was an incredible season last year, winning League One Player of the Year, a ridiculous amount of goal contributions, single-handedly winning us a trophy at Wembley.
"But, before this season there were question marks over him. Where is his best position? To get £6m is a fantastic bit of business for us.
"It will be interesting to see what he's like at a better team, a big club, whether he can settle in there and do the same as he did for Posh - it will be interesting to see. "The step-up between League One and the Championship is absolutely huge. We know that more than most because we always seem to get relegated pretty quickly after getting promoted, so it will be interesting to see if he can make the step-up. "I think £6 million, Posh have got to be delighted with that. It's a really big, big sum of money for a League One team, especially the size of Posh.
"You couldn't be rejecting that much money."
Burrows' transfer fee ranks him in the top 25 most expensive departures from League One, according to Transfermarkt, alongside several other players who have been sold by Peterborough in the last decade or so.
Britt Assombalonga, Ivan Toney and Dwight Gayle also feature on the list, as well as Ephron Mason-Clark and Ronnie Edwards, who both played with Burrows for the Posh.
Not only did Peterborough receive a significant amount of money for Burrows, they also replaced him with two good players.
Rio Adebisi signed for the club from Crewe Alexandra after helping the League Two side reach the play-off final last season, although he has since picked up an injury that will keep him sidelined for a few months.
Posh then moved quickly to sign Jack Sparkes from Portsmouth to ensure Darren Ferguson will have enough options at left-back next term. The 23-year-old provided six assists in 38 appearances as Pompey won the League One title last season.
Peterborough's business this summer has been impressive. Selling one left-back and signing two young, promising replacements for a fraction of the price is exactly the sort of move that makes the club's recruitment process one of the most effective in the EFL.
It will be interesting to see how Burrows performs for Sheffield United, but regardless of how far he goes in his career, Peterborough should be happy with the deal they agreed for his sale.
